it's been around for a while .... i think this entire state anthem thingie started somewhere in 1988... i remember having to mug it up in high school... (yeah... that long ago!!) .... the song/poem itself was the only thing agreed on. one of the reasons my school dumped the idea of singing this right after the national anthem was because of the sheer cacophony that ensued. in high school alone, 2 music teachers taught it in 3 different tunes.
